As President Joe Biden inches closer to his 100th day in office, slightly more than half of Americans approve of his job performance. Biden got the highest points for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lowest for the situation at the southern border.

NBC News recently conducted a national poll, which revealed the above results. The poll also found that the public is widely supportive of President Biden’s top legislative priorities and more optimistic about fighting off the pandemic than it was in January. Around 59% of people believe Biden’s infrastructure plan is a good one. However, 21% disagree with this, and 19% have no opinion.

Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates conducted the poll with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies. Horwitt said, “What we don’t know is if this is part of a 100-day honeymoon or something more durable and lasting for the Biden-Harris administration.” He added, “What we do know is that Joe Biden’s presidency is meeting the times.”

However, the poll also reveals that one in five Americans is against or unsure about getting the COVID-19 vaccine. A majority of them believe the country is on the wrong track, and a whopping 80% still think the nation is mostly divided, despite Biden’s promise to be a more unifying president.

According to the poll, 53% of respondents approve of Biden’s job as president, including 90% of Democrats, 9% of Republicans, and 61% of independents. However, 39% of adults disapprove of his job. Biden’s job rating is higher than former President Donald Trump’s was in the same poll around the same time in his term, with 40% approving and 54% disapproving. However, Biden’s rating is lower than President Barack Obama’s was at 100 days, wherein 61% approved and 30% disapproved.
